Description

A healthy homemade jello recipe using natural juice, unflavored beef gelatin, and optional natural sweeteners like honey or agave. This simple, dairy-free, gluten-free dessert is a guilt-free treat for kids and adults, free from dyes and additives.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 4 cups juice (any natural fruit juice of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons unflavored beef gelatin (such as Vital Proteins or Great Lakes)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or agave, or cane sugar, optional)

Instructions

  1. Bloom The Gelatin: Pour 1/2 cup of the juice into a liquid measuring cup or small bowl. Sprinkle the gelatin powder over the juice and stir to combine. Set aside for about 5 minutes to allow the gelatin to thicken and become very thick and grainy.
  2. Heat The Remaining Juice: Add the remaining 3 1/2 cups of juice to a medium saucepan and heat over medium-high heat until steaming hot but not boiling.
  3. Melt The Bloomed Gelatin: Add the honey or chosen sweetener and the bloomed gelatin mixture to the hot juice. Stir thoroughly until the gelatin is fully dissolved to ensure proper setting.
  4. Set: Pour the gelatin mixture into a 2-quart ceramic pan or heatproof containers. Cover with plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 3 to 4 hours until completely set.
  5. Serve & Store: Once set, serve immediately or store in the refrigerator. Best enjoyed within 4 to 5 days for optimal flavor and texture, although it can last up to 7 to 10 days without spoiling.

Notes

  • This recipe is dairy-free, gluten-free, and paleo-approved, making it suitable for various dietary preferences.
  • Use only unflavored beef gelatin powder; do not substitute with collagen or protein powders as they won't set properly.
  • Natural sweeteners like honey or agave are optional and can be adjusted based on taste preferences.
  • The choice of juice will affect the flavor; choose fresh or natural juices without added sugars for best results.
  • Chilling time is crucial for the gelatin to fully set; do not rush the setting process.
  • Store the jello covered in the refrigerator to prevent it from drying out or absorbing refrigerator odors.
