Ingredients
Scale
Slider Base
- 1 12-count package Hawaiian Rolls
- 6 tablespoons cream cheese (plain or onion & chive)
Sausage Mixture
- 1/2 pound ground breakfast sausage
- 1/3 cup diced red bell peppers (optional)
Egg Mixture
- 6 eggs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Topping
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/8 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F to prepare for baking the sliders.
- Slice Buns: Using a serrated knife, carefully slice through all 12 Hawaiian rolls horizontally without separating them, creating one large top bun layer and one large bottom bun layer.
- Prepare Bottom Layer: Place the bottom layers of the buns into a greased 8x11" baking pan or into the center of a greased 9x13" pan. Set the top buns aside.
- Spread Cream Cheese: Evenly spread 6 tablespoons of cream cheese over the bottom buns to act as a creamy base layer.
- Cook Sausage and Peppers: In a saucepan, brown the ground breakfast sausage with the diced red bell peppers (optional) over medium heat until fully cooked, then drain excess fat and set aside.
- Make Scrambled Eggs: In a mixing bowl, whisk together 6 eggs, 1/4 cup milk, and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper until smooth. Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a skillet on the stovetop, then add the egg mixture and stir occasionally until fluffy and cooked through.
- Assemble Layers: Sprinkle the cooked sausage and pepper mixture evenly over the cream cheese layer on the bottom buns. Then spread the scrambled eggs on top, followed by 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese.
- Add Top Buns: Place the top bun layer gently over all assembled ingredients to form complete sandwiches.
- Prepare Butter Glaze: Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a small bowl in the microwave. Stir in 1/4 teaspoon onion powder, 1/8 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon dried parsley flakes. Brush this mixture generously over the tops of the buns, allowing it to soak in.
- Bake: Cover the assembled sliders with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 5 minutes until the cheese is melted and the tops are golden brown.
- Serve: Remove from the oven, slice the slider assembly into individual sliders, and serve warm to enjoy.
Notes
- For a vegetarian-friendly version, substitute the sausage with plant-based sausage alternatives or sautéed mushrooms.
- You can swap cheddar cheese with your preferred cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for different flavors.
- Red bell peppers are optional but add a nice sweetness and color; omit or substitute with diced green peppers or onions if desired.
- Use plain cream cheese or flavored variations like onion & chive for an extra flavor boost.
- Make sure to slice the Hawaiian rolls carefully to keep the top and bottom layers intact to hold all fillings well.
- Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator and reheated in the oven or microwave.
